Marius Damian
Born on May 12, 1979, in Focșani, Romania. A graduate of the Military High School in Câmpulung Moldovenesc and the University of Theatrical Arts in Târgu Mureș. Actor at the Odeon Theatre in Bucharest, where he performs in productions signed by leading contemporary directors.
He is widely known as the storyteller voice of Asia Express — a distinctive narrative presence balancing tension, humor, and poetry. Over the years, he has written scripts for television, developed shows, and shaped a cinematic storytelling style that is sharp, rhythmic, and alive.
Alongside his work on stage and screen, Marius has been building a personal visual path. He is currently a third-year student at UNArte Bucharest, in the class of Andrei Tudoran. In painting, he explores the alterity of form — deformation, presence, and the ambiguity of the figure. He is drawn to that fragile zone where the face becomes pure tension, between vulnerability and unease.
He works mainly with gouache, tempera, and oil — mediums that allow for freedom of gesture and spontaneity of color. His paintings pursue the freshness of direct contact with matter, the trace of impulse, and the living imperfection of form.
Influenced by Bacon, Soutine, Auerbach, and de Kooning, Marius seeks a kind of painting that breathes — intense, unstable, and honest. For him, the image is not representation, but a state: a meeting point between deformation, emotion, and truth.
